🐾 Heartbeat of the Huskies: Celebrating Student "Wins"! 🐾 |
Our Student Leadership Team (SLT) recently set out to capture the heartbeat of our school by asking students to share their recent "wins". The results are a beautiful reminder of the resilience, humor, and kindness that fill our halls every day.
From crushing science tests and winning big games to the simple joy of finding a penny or having double-stuffed Oreos in a lunchbox, our students have so much to celebrate! It’s also heartwarming to hear them shout out the friends and teachers who brighten their days.
Take a moment to watch—it’s impossible not to smile. 😊 A huge shoutout to everyone who participated! We are so proud of the community we’re building together. |

🐾 AI Literacy & Innovation at Breckenridge |
Breckenridge Community Schools is excited to announce our formal partnership with the GIRESD AI Task Force. This collaboration provides our staff and students with a structured framework to navigate the evolving world of Artificial Intelligence with integrity and purpose. The AI Use Scale
To ensure consistency across our classrooms, we are adopting a standardized AI Use Scale. This tool allows teachers to clearly define the "rules of engagement" for any given assignment—ranging from entirely human-generated work to collaborative "co-piloting" with AI. By using a common language, we are helping our Huskies move beyond simple "yes or no" AI rules and toward true responsible AI literacy.
New Resource: AI Exemplar Library To support this rollout, we are also introducing the AI Exemplar Library. This internal resource serves as a "look-book" for staff, featuring:
Real-world examples of assignments mapped to different AI levels. Best practices for AI disclosure and citation. Innovative prompts and projects that successfully integrate AI as a teaching partner.
By leaning on the expertise of the GIRESD Task Force and our own collective brilliance, we are ensuring that Breckenridge remains at the forefront of educational innovation while protecting the value of student voice and original thought. |

🌱 Planting the Seeds of the Future! 🌱 |
On Monday, our Botany class teamed up with some very enthusiastic BES 3rd graders for a morning of hands-on learning and green thumbs! Together, they spent time planting cabbage plants and learning what it takes to help a garden grow. It was a wonderful opportunity for our older students to share their knowledge and for our younger Huskies to get their hands dirty in the best way possible.
A huge THANK YOU to Bonnie Plants for partnering with us and providing the plants for this fantastic project! We can’t wait to see how these cabbages (and our students' skills) grow this season. 🥬✨ |

Our robotics team, Huskie STEAM, has been hard at work over the last few weeks competing against some of the best in the region! Last weekend, the team took their talents to Mt. Pleasant, where they put their engineering and coding skills to the test. From the pits to the competition floor, these students have shown incredible teamwork, problem-solving, and Husky perseverance.
We are so proud of the hours of dedication this crew has put into building and perfecting their robot. It’s been an exciting season so far, and we can't wait to see what they do next! Way to represent Breckenridge, team! 🐾⚙️ |

💡 Knowledge is Power: The Science of Choice! |
Huge thanks to the Alma Elks Lodge #1400 for sponsoring a special assembly this Thursday, March 12th, featuring the high-energy Dr. Heather DiBlasi! 🎤 Forget the boring lectures—Dr. DiBlasi brought her 30+ years of experience as an Addiction Psychologist to Breckenridge Middle School to dive into the real science of how substances like vapes and alcohol affect the developing brain. It wasn’t just a talk; it was an interactive experience focused on: The Facts: Understanding the biological impact on young minds. Empowerment: Giving students the knowledge to own their future. Safe Choices: Equipping our Huskies with the "why" behind staying healthy. Our students were engaged, asking great questions, and leaning into the conversation. It’s all about making informed decisions! 🐾✨ |
🚜 Down on the Farm: Our Young Artists Shine! |

The creativity was in full bloom, from adorable handprint pigs 🐷 and spotted cows 🐄 to unique self-portrait scarecrows! 🌾 It was the perfect way to bring their reading month theme to life.
